Mattia had his initial diagnosis of ASD (mild) at aged 4. He is now 6 years old and we have his genetic report with the FOXP1 de novo mutation.
Mattia is healthy, happy, strong, but has delayed language. He struggles with his emotions and communication. He becomes obsessed with things, like wheels, stickers, and water. He typically sleeps well, but often wakes up early. We feel Mattia has a normal life. He has some learning difficulties, yet still achieves many things. Even though he started walking later than most kids, he can now cycle and hike for miles. Although he presents with autistic traits, he loves people and makes good eye contact!
